How GOAT fees work
GOAT deducts its commission and the seller fee from your listing price; the buyer pays shipping separately, so it never enters your fees. Earnings sit in your GOAT balance until you cash out, when the cash-out fee is taken.
| Seller rating | Commission (most sellers) | Commission (Canada) |
|---|---|---|
| 90 and above (good standing) | 9.5% | 12.4% |
| 70 to 89 | 15% | 17.9% |
| 50 to 69 | 20% | 22.9% |
| Below 50 | 25% | 27.9% |
Worked example
A UK seller with a rating of 95 sells a pair for $180 using a prepaid label. Commission 9.5% = $17.10; seller fee $5; earnings $157.90; cash-out 2.9% = $4.58; $153.32 reaches the bank. Dropping off instead of using a label would cut the seller fee to $2.
Other charges GOAT lists
- $10 if you cancel a confirmed sale or fail to ship within three business days (which also lowers your rating).
- $10 per item that fails verification, $15 if it is a replica, plus a retrieval fee to send it back.
- $10 per item dropped off at the wrong location or shipped from a different country.
- $1 per month on accounts inactive for two years or more.
Questions sellers ask
- What are GOAT's seller fees?
- A commission deducted from the listing price — 9.5% for sellers in good standing (seller rating 90 or above), 15% at a rating of 70 to 89, 20% at 50 to 69 and 25% below 50 — plus a flat seller fee per sale. Canadian sellers pay 2.9 points more at every tier: 12.4% in good standing.
- What is the seller fee?
- A flat amount per sale that depends on your location and whether you drop the item off or use a prepaid label: $0 drop-off or $5 prepaid in the US and Canada, $2 or $5 in the UK, $8 in Australia, with other countries listed on GOAT's seller-fee page. GOAT prints these in US dollars.
- How much does GOAT take from a $300 sale?
- For a US seller in good standing using a prepaid label: 9.5% ($28.50) plus the $5 seller fee, leaving $266.50 in earnings; cashing out by ACH or PayPal then costs 2.9% ($7.73), so $258.77 reaches your bank.
- How does the seller rating change?
- You start at 90. Each seller cancellation costs 10 points; each successful sale adds 2. The commission applied is the rate in effect at the time of the sale.
- What is the cash-out fee?
- 2.9% of the amount cashed out by ACH direct deposit or PayPal, with 3.1% in some locations depending on method and currency. GOAT's page says the 2.9% does not apply to Canadian sellers but does not state their rate, so the calculator leaves it out for Canada.
